Professor Jose Herney Ramirez Franco has a PhD in Chemical Engineering at Porto University (Portugal – 2008). He has a Master in Chemical Engineering form Sao Paulo University (Brazil – 2003). He is associate professor, from 2008, at Chemical Engineering Department, Engineering Faculty, Universidad Nacional de Colombia.
Currently Professor Ramirez is Coordinator of National Environmental Management System. Universidad Nacional de Colombia. He was coordinator of Master in Environmental Engineering. Universidad Nacional de Colombia. Form august of 2009 to December of 2014.
He's focused on advanced oxidation processes, thermodynamic, Chemical engineering reaction, environmental catalysis and waste re-use. He is Co-director of research Group: Materials, catalysis and environment.
Received his BSc. Eng. in Chemical Engineering, in 1997, from the Fundación Universidad de America, Bogotá, Colombia, his MSc. in Chemical Engineering in 2000, from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia. Bogotá, Colombia and his PhD. in Chemical Engineering in 2004, from the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, USA. Between 2005 and 2007 he worked in alternative energy research, followed by a Postdoctoral appointment from mid- 2007 to 2008.
Since 2008 he has been associate professor at the Chemical and Environmental Engineering Department at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Bogotá, Colombia. His research interests include materials, chemical reactions, separation processes and environmental remediation.
