Research performed by our group focuses on environmental catalyst, including development of new materials (meso, micro and nanomaterials) from byproducts, mineral and natural resources, and their use in the degradation of aqueous and atmospheric pollutants. We are always open to ideas from new students and members of the group. In fact, many of the projects we have conducted have come from the minds of junior members of the group. Also, and perhaps more importantly, we have strong ties to Colombian industries and have developed several investigations with them aiming at adding value to their ‘wastes’ (we prefer to call them ‘byproducts’). It is a common practice that we give an environmental application to the advanced materials we produce from those byproducts, but other uses have also been explored. Collaboration with multiple research groups in Colombia and abroad (USA, Portugal, Spain, Mexico and Brazil) is a substantial part of our research and educational process. For this reason, many members of the group, both graduate and undergraduate students, are selected for internships and research stays in partner groups or institutions worldwide.
The earth enclosed by "C" evocates a catalytic particle with it's activation curves, trying to represent a concrete focus for a global goal: Create green advanced materials
to reduce waste, solve energy problems and, at the end, reinvent a wealthy and healthy planet to live.
